Jun 26, 2019

Stephanie Britt's own daughter experienced and kicked a mental block in her cheering years. Stephanie has helped her own child and hundreds of athletes who all the sudden- would not go backward. Here's what she wants you to know:

The athlete wants to flip and doesn't know why she can't tumble. As a cheerleader, this is extremely important. The child becomes filled with anxiety, guilt and stress; which often times causes depression and frustration that will lead her to quit.

5 Things that Cause Mental Block:

1. Advancing too quickly

2. Accident or Injury

3. Self-critical athlete

4. Pressure from a coach or the parent

5. A child who suffers from anxiety

In the world of all-star cheerleading, mental blocks are more common due to the higher amounts of pressure athletes have to overcome. It is important that athletes are training themselves physically but mentally as well.
